Course Description: Students who sign up for this course should be ready for lengthy reading assignments, rigorous tests, weekly vocabulary, grammar, research papers incorporating MLA format, and projects with each novel.
Course Content:
The curriculum is novel-based with both fiction and non-fiction authors. There will be different activities and projects for each novel.
The weekly vocabulary exposes students to the words they might see on standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT as well as in everyday life.
Class Procedures:
Students are expected to write down daily assignments, test dates, and due dates in their agendas (This information is written on the white board each day).
When students are absent, they are to check the Makeup Work binder that lists our daily assignments.
Grades:
I do not print out grades and post them; therefore, students are expected to be checking their grades regularly using the "Aeries Grades for Teachers and Parents" link on our MHS homepage.

My gradebook is set up to average each quarter grade to give the semester grade.I do not grade based on a curved system.
LATE WORK -Assignments (ONLY one day late will receive a 50% point penalty). -Assignments two or more days late will receive ZERO points. -There will be times when NO LATE WORK will be accepted.
