Language Designation (Lang Desig)
These codes are used in the Attendance and Student Data sections of Aeries/ABI:
Only students with a code of "3" are English Learners.
1 - English Only
2 - FEP (Initially Fluent English Proficient)
3 - LEP (Limited English Proficient)
4 - Redesignated (Reclassified Fluent English Proficient)
 
 
California English Language Development Test (CELDT)
These codes are used in the Testing section of Aeries/ABI (CELDT proficiency levels, listed in the "Other" column for Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking:
Students with a code of "1", "2", or "3" are English Learners; students with a code of "4" or "5" may be English Learners if they have not yet met other criteria for reclassification (check the Language Designation code to find out).  Reclassified students do not continue to take the CELDT, but have scores from previous years.
