MUHSD Web Site Standards

Purpose of School Web Sites:

  • Timely information about the school site.
  • Provide two-way communication between home and school.
  • A showcase for student work.  
  • A collection of suitable sites for student and staff on-line research.
  • An opportunity for students to learn web page design skills.

Web Site Standards:

  • Student pictures should not be accompanied by full names.
  • No home addresses or telephone numbers should be included on any web page.
  • Student e-mail addresses should not be included on any web page.
  • Student pictures posted on the web site must have a signed parent permission form on file.
  • All student created pages must have strict teacher supervision.
  • Student web pages should have the supervising teacher's name and teacher's e-mail address for comments.
  • Student web pages should not contain links to pages outside Merced County school sites.
  • No advertising should be included on any web page.
  • Each site should have a clearly accessible feedback link on the home page.
  • School and district policies should be followed.
  • Links should be limited to sites that have educational value.
  • Date sensitive information should include a date on the page.

Style Suggestions:

  • There should not be more than 4 pictures per page with the aggregate size no more than 50K per page.
  • Your site should stay consistent with your school's color scheme.
