It is important to consider both the pros and cons of online learning so you can be better prepared to face the challenge of working in this new environment as well as embrace the new opportunities that it has to offer. Strengths or Weaknesses? You choose which link to follow first, but please look at both - it's only fair!

As members of an academic community, students and faculty have the responsibility to foster and maintain Academic Honesty. Academic dishonesty is a serious violation of the trust upon which an academic community depends. Academic integrity means that all work you submit is created by you and is an original representation of your work. It means that what you submit as your work is your work.

Hardware/Software Requirements

Internet Access and Speed
As long as you have Internet access, you can take courses with GradPoint. While it is possible to take courses with dial-up connectivity, it will take a little longer for pages to load. You might want to print a few lessons and work offline. You can then save and upload work when you are finished.

Windows Clients

Can be:

 Windows XP®Professional SP3 (32-bit)

 Windows Vista® Home Basic SP1, Home Premium SP1, Business SP1, or Ultimate SP1 (32-bit or 64-bit)

 Windows 7® Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate (32-bit or 64-bit)

With at least:

 2.33 GHz or faster x86-compatible processor

 Intel Atom 1.6GHz or faster processor (netbooks)

 1 GB of RAM

 Single 100 Mbit/s Network Interface Card

 50 MB of available disk space (local cache / temp files)

 Screen resolution 1280 x 960 or greater recommended (lower resolutions or setting zoom higher than 100% may require scrolling)

 128 MB graphics memory recommended

 Any Creative Labs or 100% compatible sound card

 Any headset (optional)

And Installed:

 Internet Explorer® 7.x, 8.x, or 9.x Note: BrainHoney supports IE 8 and 9 through running in IE 7 compatibility mode.

These specifications are intended strictly as a guideline. They were developed in an environment free from network congestion, resource contention, and aggressive security measures.

Consider the minimum requirements applicable only if your workstations use a minimally configured and supported operating system, a minimally configured virus scanner, and only this Pearson application. Macintosh Clients

The opportunity to purchase a computer for $149.99 (plus applicable taxes); and
Access to online, in print, and in person digital literacy training.

A household is eligible to participate in Internet Essentials if it:
• Is located where Comcast offers Internet service
• Has at least one child receiving free school lunches through the National School Lunch Program
• Has not subscribed to Comcast Internet service within the last 90 days, and
• Does not have an overdue Comcast bill or unreturned equipment
