Welcome to Merced Adult School, Spring 2013, where education has no age limits! Merced Union High School District has made tremendous gains in student achievement over the past few years, and I am excited that our school is a part of it. Adults in our programs can be assured of receiving high-quality instruction from teachers who care about each of them! Our classes meet our community’s need for adult education services in the areas of English-as-a-Second Language, Adult Basic Education, GED Preparation, Adult High School Diploma, Career Technical Education and Parenting Education. The classes we offer move students toward financial and personal self-sufficiency by preparing them for college and/or careers# Our new vision statement captures our commitment to the adults of Merced, Atwater, Livingston and the surrounding area: Merced Adult School’s vision is to provide instruction that reflects the needs of our local community and labor market gained through partnerships with post-secondary institutions and businesses. This knowledge, paired with assessments of skills and interests, will help students in developing and achieving their personal, academic, and vocational goals and transition to higher education or the work-force. What’s new this year? We’re offering Conversational Spanish and starting the transition to the computer-based GED test.
